I teach private lessons in Denver, CO on both acoustic and electric guitar. I specialize in working with high school, college, and adult students. One of my goals is to meet the student at whatever level they are at and help them advance to the next level, but above all, I want to see my students enjoying the guitar and learning about music.
I’ve been playing music since I was 5 years old and I’ve had many teachers. What always worked best for me were teachers who would help guide me towards my own goals while also covering music fundamentals. I individualize each lesson plan to the student’s aspirations, and while meeting their goals, I aim to cover 6 important aspects of music; melody, harmony, rhythm, composition, improvisation, and history. My personal expectation is to be able to justify anything I introduce to the student as working towards their individual goals.
I like to use technology. After every lesson the student receives an email with PDFs of our lesson materials as well as a detailed assignment for the week. We record performances in lessons so the student can reference them later. I’ll handwrite scale and chord diagrams on my iPad and share them via email. If any questions come up between lessons about what we worked on, I can send personalized videos or email explanations to help. Unless I am out of town or my phone falls in the South Platte, I will respond within 24 hours.
